Today is the official end of the Christmas season.
Here's one final jingle.
The Jentz Family Christmas Recipes from 2015
Our theme was Supper Club Dining.
Wisconsin has a large network "retro" dinner club establishments:
"Wisconsin Supper Clubs: An Old Fashioned Experience shows why supper clubs are such a big part of Wisconsin's food culture and the full experience of supper club dining: a brandy old fashioned sweet at the bar, relish trays at the table, huge portions of steaks, seafood and game, and the friendly, loyal customers who have been dining at their favorite places for so many years."
Most Four of our recipes came from the two books pictured here- found at a used bookstore. The menus are easy to follow and the detailed photos are absolutely delightful.
The selection below is "casual" and based on the personal tastes of several people. I wasn't thinking Cajun at all, but we ended up with a touch of it.
How the creations will actually look or taste, is characteristically
a mystery since the "rule" has been to try something new each year. The creole was voted best, the terrine most unusual and the rest was robust according to Dave.
Appetizers and Treats
Shrimp Creole first course
Meatloaf Pinwheel main course
Triple Layer Vegetable Terrine
What happened to the delicious cookies purchased from a friend?
The figures were divided and layered with ice cream and whipped cream.
The ornaments were gifted.
Wishing you all the very best in 2016!
