Dr Silvestri offered an introduction to the ancient technique of illumination in a retreat-like, workshop setting. This initiative was fueled by the ongoing requests of a few friends who were "hungering" for an opportunity of this kind locally and I accommodated for space.
Most of the participants lead busy, and often noisy lives. This art retreat was an opportune time, as related by some, to slow down just a little in order to quietly create a sumptuous illumination.
In the atmosphere provided, they were able to enjoy the feel of "scriptorium" group living (twelve illuminators)- where the days are regulated by copying texts, illuminating, dining, prayer and stillness. We celebrated our mistakes (at Tony's suggestion) and worked through the "unanticipated" as a team. Bravo to all!
Endless thanks to Tony for his expertise and willingness to travel from Lawrence, Kansas to Wisconsin to teach this workshop and secondly, a big thank-you to the outstanding students who made this workshop a complete joy to host. Your thoughtful patience was noted and appreciated!
If you are first reading about this after the event and have an interest in a workshop like this- please contact me. I will gladly add your name to the workshop 2016 list. We haven't set a date or thought through out any details, but would definitely like to offer this again. We are open to other venues as well.
