Several gifts were reported in news stories.
The papal gift from the diocese of Palo, Leyte was a mosaic of the Madonna del Popolo from the Vatican workshop. The original 14th Century icon, a painting, is located at the Church of Santa Maria del Popolo (St Mary of the People) in Rome.
The above statue of the Immaculate Conception, attired in a Filipiniana dress, was given to the Pope while he was in Tacloban City, Philippines.
In 2013, their local Cathedral was badly damaged in the horrific Supertyphoon "Yolanda". The wood for this statue came from one of the Cathedral trusses and was lovingly carved by a local artist.
President Benigno Aquino III presented a hand-carved Madonna made from the wood of a century-old acacia tree that was uprooted in the 2014 typhoon and peso papal coins (below).
