Recently, the Pope denounced abortion as a product of a "widespread mentality of profit, the throwaway culture, which has today enslaved the hearts and minds of so many," and stating that "every unborn child, though unjustly condemned to be aborted, has the face of the Lord." CNS
The pro-life community offers a beautiful message of hope - that the life of (even) one child can change human history forever.
God's plan is perfect and we must trust in His goodness, even in the worst circumstances. The marchers bring this testimony back into their families and communities. I have been to the march and it is truly amazing. Here's a video promo from Washington 2013.
It is also the International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
In December of 2013, Pope Francis con-celebrated Mass with visiting Patriarch Ibrahim Isaac Sidrak in Rome.
The Pope encouraged the Coptic community to “Be strong; do not fear!...These are the words of consolation that find confirmation in fraternal solidarity. I am grateful to God for this encounter, which gives me a way of reinforcing your – and our – hope, which is one and the same.”
The Patriarch, in his speech reflected that “In the time that we prepare to celebrate the incarnation of the Word, we cannot but recall the historical bond between my land and this mystery, from the moment in which the first place to welcome the Holy Family in flight from Herod's persecutions was none other than Egypt...This corner of land between the desert and the Nile has known, and still knows, the painful drama experienced by many people who wish to be listened to and received.
