In the Gospel reading today, Luke 18:1-8, "Jesus told his disciples about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary".
A few years back I began a small painting called "The Way of the Pilgrim" after reading the classic book featured above
I first heard about this prayer during a workshop where the iconographer taught it.
The painting is a work in progress (shown below) and the date for completion has not yet arrived. Many of the final elements are in place, however the details that will give it "polish" are missing. I kind of like this idea of leaving it unfinished. It reminds me that my prayers and petitions are ongoing.
The "heart" of the Jesus Prayer is to pray without ceasing using this simple invocation "Oh Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner".
Saint Paul‘s injunction to “Pray without ceasing”
from 1 Thessalonians 5:17).
