Where the Wind Blows: a leaf spinning in the air... suspended by nature's invisible thread. A silent essay.
A Fluttering Leaf
This little leaf was dangling from an almost invisible thread (possibly a damaged spider web). Although it was fluttering about it did not fall. I tried to photograph its movement with some success, however it didn't stay still long enough to focus.
A piano instrumental by Johnny williams. A much recorded popular song. Originally a 1945 French song "Les feuilles mortes" (literally "The Dead Leaves") with music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacquez Prevert. Introduced in1946 in the film "Los Portes de la Nuit". The American songwriter Johnny Mercer wrote English lyrics in 1947 and Jo Stafford was among the first to perform this version. The film "Autumn Leaves" (1956) starring Joan Crawford featured the song as sung by Nat King Cole. In 1955, ROGER WILLIAMS made the song a number 1 hit in US, the only piano instrumental to reach number 1 and remaining in that position for 4 weeks.
