1. Decide the size. Any special shape? Board, panel or paper? Traditionally, icon are written on boards. For more substrate information go here.
2. Original design or copy?
3. Are you considering intricate embellishments/detailing or verses?
4. How many figures
5. Do you want gold? If so, is that for the whole background or just for the halos?
6. Is there a special date for completion? If so, please allow enough time to complete the commission. 
7. Have an idea of what you would like to pay - is this a guideline or a maximum ‘ceiling'?
8. Send an outline of your proposal. The details will be worked out in an ongoing dialogue unless requested otherwise.
9. Photographic images help very much.
10. I keep  busy with orders and life in general, so depending upon the consulting time involved, a good faith deposit might be requested and it can be applied toward your down-payment.
