We have been enjoying very pleasant and warm weather here, in Wisconsin (praise God), and it is hard to believe that winter is gradually approaching.
In customary anticipation and preparation, most of us are slowly transitioning to indoor activities (like it or not). For my part, I am glad to report on one fall project that is coming along nicely and will eventually lead to another which is guaranteed to light up those cold winter months.
I am tutoring two lovely girls, sisters, and thought to post progress on their paintings of a mosaic decoration which we are completing as a warm-up exercise and there will be more to follow.
Later, when the girls are ready, we will embark on the writing of 11 x 11 inch Byzantine Orthodox Christ Emmanuel icons. See what they look like here.
Learning the basics is essential, but it doesn't need to be tedious. It was important for the girls to practice various brush techniques and I wanted them to do it in a creative and traditional way, so I selected the mosaic image pictured, and then designed a special project just for them; as you see. The girls are progressing quickly and with genuine enthusiasm.
