Unique and often challenging requests are something that I have become accustomed to receiving and this one is no exception. A student studying the ancient alphabet has taken a fancy to the numeric and visual symbolism of the letter Zayin and his father has asked that I create a keepsake marking this time in his life. My familiarity with this letter was near zero until the family called my attention to it. I have viewed it in visual form, within the entire alphabet, and that was about the extent of it. As for the Psalm reference, well I totally missed that! After all, there's so much to learn and never enough time. Below is a short summary of the Zayin letter starting with it's place in Psalm 118 or 119 (depending on the biblical translation). Certainly eye-opening! Enjoy: I have designed a pattern with floral vines, adding votives, and will render it in the manuscript fashion on tradition calfskin vellum of 5x7. Will work with the client to find a perfect mat and frame.
