1. Jesus Christ The Bridegroom Icon "Our Lord is depicted at His trial, stripped of His clothes and beaten, hands tied, wearing the crown of thorns and holding the reed in His hand. This icon is also known as 'Extreme Humility'." This icon of Christ is used during the first three days of Holy Week, especially at the Bridegroom Matins services. For this reason, the icon is known as 'the Bridegroom.' In the Byzantine tradition, this icon is carried in solemn procession while the hymn is sung: "Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight..." 2. BOOK GIFT This website is reserved for my LCA business promotion, however once in a slim while I make an exception- like today. In late February a book gift, AVE GRATIA PLENA: ON PAINTING AFTER POST-MODERNISM, was delivered to my door with a challenge to read it. So I delved in. At page thirty, am now thoroughly engaged. Because I have a necessary understanding of Christian art and life, including a full art library, much of what the author is writing, so far, is familiar to me in at least a preliminary way. There's a dose of reality check from the start and that may seem shocking at first, nonetheless, true. However, if this book also succeeds in aspiring, enriching and/or encouraging its readers through greater or deeper insights and with spiritual food for thought (and I believe that it will), then so be it. In fact, I'm guessing that this is just the type of book that I was looking for at this time- one with a healthy serving of "red meat". Below view the quick note from my friend regarding this send and the book cover. The back cover description is hard to read because the color font fades into the book image selected. If interested, research online to find out more. May 2021 Post Workshop- go here to view a sampling of photos. 3. Icon Writing Workshop 1.
