"St Ephraim the Syrian was born early in the fourth century in the ancient city of Nisibis in Mesopotamia, where the Roman Empire bordered on the Persian Kingdom. At one time Mesopotamia belonged to Syria and for this reason St. Ephraim is known as 'the Syrian.'" He is "is especially beloved in the Syriac Orthodox Church, and counted as a Venerable Father (i.e., a sainted Monk) in Eastern Orthodoxy. He was declared a Doctor of the Church in the Catholic Church in 1920."
The image selected by my patron, after a process of elimination, is located in Eastern Europe. It is in disrepair as you can see and I will need to fill in the blanks.

# 2 Stella Maris. Shown below in progress and completed was painted on a handmade, 3'L x18"W, thick gesso board using high grade, custom mixed, acrylic paint.
Mary, Mother of God, reigning queen of heaven and earth, is depicted with Jesus who is holding a golden globe of the world. The lower section is where the title will be located within the sphere surrounded by an original scene of water, land, and sky.
This is the 2nd Stella Maris icon that I've completed. The first one was in Neo-Coptic style and can be viewed on ESTY where I offer print reproductions. Below find a cute presentation from one of my students who completed a Stella Maris star.
